Drunk Elephant C-Tango™ Multivitamin Eye Cream First Impression+Allergic Reaction

Not Sponsored, I’ve returned this Drunk Elephant C-tango eye cream to Sephora already, because of eye allergic reaction, please scroll down to see details, thank you!

$64/15ml Plus Tax on Sephora site   Drunk Elephant C-Tango™ Multivitamin Eye Cream

Fresh out the box, I ordered through Sephora Site as soon as I saw it on Instagram.Standard DE twist-up pump.

1, A close look and Comparison:

I took a picture of the eye cream I’m using now Caudalie Resveratrol Lift Eye Lifting Balm($62/15ml). I consider Caudalie Resveratrol eye cream as a very light eye cream, watery, mainly support the hydration purpose, at least for me, depuffs with 30 seconds message. It’s that kind watery cream that disappears into the skin.

Drunk Elephant C-tango, has somewhat a “primer” texture, very silky, I suspect there’s silicone in it, I browsed through the ingredient list, not sure yet.

It’s exactly one-pump of Drunk Elephant C-tango on the right.

2, Consistency light or rich? My opinion: a standard eye cream texture.

I saw it a review on Sephora site saying it’s “richer than usual eye cream”. I disagree. It’s quite “standard”, neither too thick nor too thin. Most creams are like this, may not as silky. I will call C-tango a thick lotion, not a heavy cream.

3, Under concealer: It lays well under concealer, I tried my current concealer: Milani RETOUCH + ERASE LightLifting Concealer, which isn’t a very creamy one, more on the dry side. It’s been over half an hour, no showing of lines yet.

4, Sensitive eyes: I have very sensitive eyes, I had a problem with DE Shaba Complex™ Eye Serum, see review here. It caused itchiness and tiny pimples around eyes area and a  bump on the bottom lash line of my right eye. Which after a year is still there, nothing I can do about it. while applying C-tango, there’s no tingling, no tears, no sensitivity happened yet, since the formula probably quite different. Update: scroll down to see reaction details.

This is a Vitamin-C based eye cream, which is not the first one, the ingredient list of this eye cream is quite long. What makes C-Tango unique is the “Power Five C Vitamin Complex”, according to the ingredients list, those 5 powerful ingredients should be: Sodium Ascorbyl, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Ascorbyl Palmitate. They are different forms of Vitamin C, they are not as potent as L-ascorbic acid, supposedly not as irritating as L-ascorbic acid either.

Reaction Issue Update

I’ve returned this Drunk Elephant C-tango eye cream to Sephora already, here’s why.

4 uses of Drunk Elephant C-tango eye cream. I got it on a Thursday afternoon, put it on immediately. Then on the same night, Friday morning and night, I  got eyes discharge on Friday.  Then used it again on Saturday morning, the eye discharge situation got more serious on Saturday, it blurred my version, and my lashlines were itchy. I looked close to a mirror, there it was, a clear bump on the lower eyelid of my left eye. Just like the Drunk Elephant Shaba eye serum. This eye cream was the only thing I changed in my routine. I don’t think I will try any other Drunk Elephant eye product again, as much as I wanted to have all the benefits, whether it’s a magical formula or not, I can’t risk my eye health. If you have sensitive eyes, please be notified.

The clear bump went away 2 days later with eye allergy drops.

MyChelle Perfect C Eye Cream

I wasn’t sure if the reaction was because of the Drunk Elephant’s formula or simply because of the Ingredient Vitamin C. So I tried another Vitamin C based eye cream, Mychelle Perfect C Eye Cream.

Mychelle has this Vitamin C based eye cream for years, got it on sale for $18.55/15ml. It was formulated with L-ascorbic acid, the most potent form of vitamin C. Squeeze tube, nothing fancy but certainly does the job!

I’ve used it for a full week, here’s my first impression.

1, Texture: thick cream, thicker than C-tango.  Has a scent of typical L-ascorbic acid. No tingling, no tears.

2, On skin, under makeup: It doesn’t sink into skin immediately, better with “dot to dot” method than rubbing with double “C’ motion. Not as smooth on the skin as C-tango, but after about 1 minute, it completely disappears into skin. Goes well under makeup, not smooth fine lines as a silicone primer, However it does moisturize undereye area nicely.

3, Reacted yet? No eye allergic reaction yet, no tears, no tingling, no eye discharge, no clear bumps on eyelids. Although I haven’t seen a noticeable difference yet, it’s good enough for me now.  I’ll update this post once it’s getting magical~~😘
